Teen Parent Program

Program Description
The Teen Parent Program (TPP) is  a part of VRABE's Credit Diploma program.  Although the TPP  meets at Rockville High School, this alternative school-based program is open to any teen parent in the 19 town region.

Classes meet from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and begin September 4, 2007.  Free childcare is provided at Rockville High School for the children of the teen parents who qualify for assistance.

Mission
The mission of the Teen Parent Program is to provide an opportunity for pregnant or parenting teenagers, ages 16-20, to earn a high school diploma and to become self-supporting members of society.

Program Goals

To decrease the dropout rate of pregnant high school students
To enable teen parents to graduate from high school so they can become more self sufficient and less economically dependent
To ensure that teen parents  receive parenting education and child care skills so they can become more confident and capable parents
To provide quality childcare in a nurturing and safe environment

 
Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of 20 credits in the following areas:
Social Studies Technology
English Science
Mathematics Health
Career Exploration Personal Finance
Child Development
