English as a Second Language (ESL) for Home Child Care Providers
This 12-week program is geared to individuals who are seeking to become licensed by the state of Connecticut as a family day care provider, or are interested in refining their home business capacity. Participants will develop: English language skills; an understanding of some key child development concepts; a large repertoire of teaching and management strategies to use with children; and knowledge about setting up a business plan (including financing, taxation, and marketing). They also create a professional portfolio, which is a very useful tool for marketing their business to parents, and they are assisted with the process of applying for a CT home day care license.
Saturday classes begin in Fall and in Winter, and are held in Manchester and Hartford. For information, please call 860-870-6000 ext.139 or 860-247-3227.
This program is sponsored by Vernon Regional Adult Based Education in partnership with the Connecticut Puerto Rican Forum, Inc., and is part of the Adult Literacy Project funded by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
